The children, grades K-5 attend the after-school program at the Neighborhood Center of the United Methodist Church. The Center is located just a few blocks from the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg. It has been serving the Harrisburg community since 1910.

First Lady Susan Corbett visited the Child Care Center located in the Finance Building in Harrisburg. Mrs. Corbett read a book to the children and helped them paint a mural that will be displayed at the center’s entrance. The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration that is now in its 40th year. It aims to boost awareness of the needs of young children and recognize early childhood programs. The theme of the week is “Early Years are Learning Years.”

Corbett helped to deliver a $25,000 check on behalf of Coca-Cola to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania and the Sarah Heinz House Boys & Girls Club. Because the Steelers lost the Super Bowl to the Packers, Gov. Corbett, a lifelong Steelers fan, appeared at the event wearing a Green Bay jersey.
