The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission has many historic sites and museums along the Pennsylvania Trails of History™.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania, located in Harrisburg, is the only museum in the Commonwealth where the public can experience the full expanse of the state's heritage and its connections to the national experience.

The Pennsylvania State Archives, also located in Harrisburg, makes available public records of the Commonwealth.

The Bureau for Historic Preservation is the State Historic Preservation office. Located in Harrisburg, the office is open Tuesday through Friday by appointment only.
