NATURE OF WORK

 

You will participate in a 12 month on-the-job engineering technology training program.  The training is designed to develop technical skills and proficiency in construction and materials inspection, highway or bridge/structural drafting and design, right-of-way determination, surveying or traffic control/planning.

 

If you successfully complete the training period, you will be promoted to a higher job level with an increase in salary.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

For some jobs, offers of employment will be made only if you are willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Minimum Requirements

An associate degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.

 

Clarification of Requirements

Only associate degrees in engineering technology (A.A., A.S.T., A.A.S.) and more advanced engineering degrees are acceptable.  Other "appropriate fields of engineering" include mechanical, architectural, structural, contracting, building construction, electrical and electronics engineering and engineering mechanics.

 

You may take the test if you have completed 45 or more credit hours and expect to receive a qualifying associate's degree within 7 months.  You must provide proof of your degree before you start work.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on what you report on your application and supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these jobs and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
