NATURE OF WORK
This is professional nursing administrative work of an advisory nature. Employees gather and evaluate information and recommend resolution of nursing practice issues to the State Board of Nursing. Employees independently assess and determine the impact of current and emerging nursing practices and procedures, and function as a primary resource in this area. Work includes conducting random surveys of clinical practice to observe new practice procedures or equipment, or to ensure the equipment and procedures are in compliance with the Nursing Act and the Board of Nursing Regulations. Employees have considerable independence and receive general direction from the Secretary, Board of Nursing, who also reviews work for program effectiveness.

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of a current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. You must write your certification number, date issued and issuing body in the ‘License or Certificates’ section of your application for employment/promotion.
Minimum Requirements
Experience as a Registered Professional Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the last five years, including three years in clinical practice; and a master’s degree in the field of nursing.

TESTING
The test will consist of determining if you meet the minimum experience and training and necessary special requirement.
If you were previously found ineligible for Nursing Practice Adviser, but now meet the requirements, you may reapply during the life of this announcement. A new application is required for a retest.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
