NATURE OF WORK
You will provide basic health care needs for assigned residents in order to assist them to achieve their full potential at the Center and in the community. You will independently provide routine physical care; lift and position residents; use crisis pre/intervention techniques; interact with residents, assist with activities of daily living; act as resident advocate; observe and report resident behaviors/conditions orally and in writing; operate necessary equipment; respond to emergencies; and promote and maintain a clean, safe environment. Your work will be performed under close supervision of a licensed professional supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
All of the positions in this job title come under the provisions of the Older Adults Protective Services Act. If you are a final candidate for one of these positions, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such positions. You will receive information about this requirement and how to obtain the required reports at the time you are being considered for employment.

You must be a Pennsylvania resident of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Necessary Special Requirement
You must be registered and certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a nurse aide/restoration aide.
Minimum Requirements
Six months experience as an Aide Trainee; OR one year of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric residents and/or residents with a physical illness, some of whom may have had additional disabilities; and graduation from high school or equivalent.

There are currently 91 filled Restoration Aide positions. All positions are located at the South Mountain Restoration Center in South Mountain, PA (Franklin County), which is operated by the Department of Public Welfare. The Center currently has five vacancies. Restoration aides work on day and evening shifts and work includes weekend and holiday shifts on a rotational basis.
Additional opportunities may occur due to normal turnover from retirements, promotions, transfers, resignations and so forth.

TESTING
Your application will be evaluated to determine whether you meet the Minimum and Necessary Special Requirements. If you meet these requirements, you will receive a score.
It is important that you provide information showing that you possess the Minimum and Necessary Special Requirements. Be sure to provide the registration number and expiration date of your Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry certificate on your application. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after six months from the date of your application. You must submit a new application to be retested.
TEST RESULTS
Employment lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
