NATURE OF WORK

 

This is professional nursing work providing nursing consultative and advisory services to medical, nursing, behavioral health or administrative personnel as well as the general public.  You will be developing and interpreting regulations, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines related to health services.  You may plan and develop health programs, and monitor and provide direction and oversight to these programs; conduct education programs for professional groups and the public; write contracts; assess quality assurance plans and perform site visits to monitor health services.

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for this job title.

 

Necessary Special Requirements

Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; OR possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

 

Condition of Employment

Employees possessing a non-renewable temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the 1 year period as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

 

Minimum Requirements

Three years of professional nursing experience, including two years in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or quality assurance capacity in professional nursing and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.  (A Master’s Degree in Nursing or Public Health may be substituted for one year of professional nursing experience.); OR an equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or quality assurance capacity in professional nursing.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education for the required experience, except for the required two years in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or quality assurance capacity in professional nursing, or appropriate experience for the required education.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement. 

 

You must provide your license number and expiration date of your Registered Nurse license in the “Licenses or Certificates” section of your Application for Employment/Promotion.  You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your “Notice of Examination Results.”  A new application and application supplement are required for retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
