NATURE OF WORK

 

Bridge Inspection Crane Technician

You will operate and maintain truck-mounted bridge inspection cranes weighing more than 26,000 pounds that have hydraulically operated multi-boom aerial platform buckets.  You will also assist in operating and maintaining traffic control safety devices at work sites, developing schedules for preventative maintenance and repair of inspection cranes, and inspecting bridge structures to identify deficiencies and potential structural damage.

 

Bridge Inspection Crane Supervisor

You will plan and direct the operation and maintenance of truck-mounted bridge inspection cranes and traffic control safety devices; assist in developing schedules for preventative maintenance and repair of inspection cranes; assist in inspecting bridge structures to identify deficiencies and potential structural damage; assign work to crane inspection technicians; and review work for adherence to established guidelines and standards.

 

As a Technician or Supervisor you will climb bridge structures, work under adverse weather conditions and walk over hazardous terrain.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel.  This frequently includes traveling overnight. Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

After you receive a conditional offer of employment, you must pass drug-screening tests.

 

Necessary Special Requirements

You must have a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Bridge Inspection Crane Technician - Two years of experience in the operation of a multi-boom aerial platform bucket apparatus or truck-mounted crane.

 

Bridge Inspection Crane Technician Supervisor - Two years of experience as a Bridge Inspection Crane Technician; OR 4 years of experience in the operation of a multi-boom aerial platform bucket apparatus or truck-mounted crane including 1 year of supervisory experience;

 

Both Job Titles - Equivalent combinations of related experience and training are acceptable.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education for the required experience.  Related education includes completed courses in truck driving and the operation and repair of construction equipment.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
