NATURE OF WORK
You will oversee architectural work and manage design projects related to existing or proposed state-owned buildings and other structures. As a project coordinator, you may determine basic approaches, priorities, and deadlines; prepare drawings and cost estimates; evaluate designs, specifications, and bidding documents; coordinate all disciplines (electrical, mechanical, hazardous materials, plumbing, abatement, and so forth) and phases or projects; conduct on-site reviews, inspections, or investigations; provide technical advice and interpretation to management; or direct project development by outside architectural/engineering firms, consultants, or others hired by the agency. Architectural Supervisors are responsible for direct supervisory control over in-house personnel (such as designers, draftsman, or others).

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Necessary Special Requirement
For Architectural Consultant – Registration with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a reciprocal jurisdiction as a Registered Architect.
Condition of Employment
For Architectural Supervisor – Certain positions may require licensure as a Registered Architect by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a reciprocal jurisdiction.
Minimum Requirements
Architectural Consultant – One year as an Architectural Designer 2; OR three years of professional architectural experience in building renovation and new construction for commercial, institutional, or educational buildings, and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field which included major course work in Architectural Design; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which included at least one year of project coordination in the design, construction, or review of architectural projects, the integration of function and design, and the preparation of architectural plans and specifications for commercial, institutional, or educational buildings.
Architectural Supervisor – One year as an Architectural Designer 2; OR three years of professional architectural experience in building renovation and new construction for commercial, institutional, or educational buildings, and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or a closely-related field which included major course work in Architectural Design; OR one year of experience in supervising the design, construction, or review of architectural projects, which involved the integration of function and design and the preparation of architectural plans and specifications for a variety of commercial, institutional, or educational buildings, and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a closely-related field which included major course work in Architectural Design.
Clarification of Requirements
If you possess a current registration as a Registered Architect with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a reciprocal jurisdiction you will meet the “Minimum Requirements” for both jobs.
Registered Architects must write the certificate number, date issued, and issuing body for the license in the “Licenses or Certificates” section of the “Application for Employment/Promotion.”

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on what you report on your application. If you have a Registered Architect license, be sure to indicate the number and date on your Application for Employment/Promotion, as your eligibility and score will be based upon your possession of that licensure.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application is required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these jobs and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
