NATURE OF WORK
You will supervise and train staff engaged in determining client eligibility for Income Maintenance program services and benefits, assist eligible clients in obtaining services and refer clients or their family members to appropriate agencies or community resources for needed social and employment services. Work involves interpreting and conveying the local application of income maintenance program policies and procedures; providing formal guidance and leadership for staff regarding interviewing clients and reviewing and updating case records; ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of decisions on clients' eligibility for benefits and services; distributing casework assignments; and supervising caseload management. Work is performed independently in accordance with established policies and procedures under the direction of an administrative supervisor.

Minimum Requirements
Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker.

TESTING
The test will be administered on a computer. Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
The test will also be held approximately 10 days a month at additional test centers located in Allentown, Erie, Johnstown, Lock Haven, and Scranton. If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test. You must submit a new application to be retested.
If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
