NATURE OF WORK

 

You will provide assistance to patients in prescribed physical therapy programs.  You will prepare patients for treatments and observe them during therapy to prevent injury.  You will assist a Licensed Physical Therapist in acute and active physical therapy rehabilitation programs and in carrying-out maintenance therapy programs.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for this job title.

 

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Child Protective Services Law, you will have to provide reports on your background, at your own expense, from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.  If you are not a Pennsylvania resident, you must also obtain a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

 

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Service Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you.  If you are not currently a Pennsylvania resident, or if you are currently a Pennsylvania resident and have not been a resident for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Current registration as a Physical Therapist Assistant with the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy.

TESTING

 

Your application will be evaluated to determine whether you meet the Necessary Special Requirement.  If you meet this requirement, you will receive a score.  You must provide your license number in the “Licenses or Certificates” section of your Application for Employment/Promotion.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in disqualification.

 

If you are found ineligible because you do not meet the Necessary Special Requirement, you may reapply when you become registered with the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy as a Physical Therapist Assistant.  You must submit a new application to be retested.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
