NATURE OF WORK
Natural Resource Specialist - You will develop, implement and evaluate programs; collect, compile and analyze data; develop project scopes, environmental reviews, and feasibility studies; provide technical guidance to field personnel; and plan and conduct training courses and workshops.
Natural Resource Program Specialist - You will review proposed legislation for impact on programs and make recommendations for support, non-support or changes; develop and recommend goals, objectives and priorities to senior staff; develop, recommend, implement and evaluate programs; establish performance indicators; conduct evaluations of the implementation of field programs and prepare reports of findings; develop and conduct feasibility studies; evaluate training needs of staff and conduct training; prepare and deliver speeches to various organizations; and draft, present and finalize educational and informational material.
Natural Resource Program Supervisor - You will supervise the activities of staff engaged in the planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of natural resource programs designed to manage, protect, conserve and enhance natural resources in Pennsylvania. Work involves developing long and short range goals, objectives, and priorities; directing the evaluation of field programs; developing and presenting reports on program effectiveness; conducting program evaluations; determining need for new or revised programs; reviewing recommendations on draft legislation; and overseeing and reviewing the development of program performance indicators and evaluations of implementation of field programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Requirements
Natural Resource Specialist - Two years of professional experience in the development and management of a natural resource program and a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, environmental resources management, wildlife biology, wildlife management, forestry, ecology or closely related natural resource major; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Natural Resource Program Specialist - One year of experience as a Natural Resource Specialist; OR three years of professional experience in the development and management of a natural resource program and a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, environmental resources management, wildlife biology, wildlife management, forestry, ecology or closely related natural resource major; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Natural Resource Program Supervisor - One year of experience as a Natural Resource Program Specialist; OR four years of professional experience in the development and management of a natural resource program and a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, environmental resources management, wildlife biology, wildlife management, forestry, ecology or closely related natural resource major; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

TESTING
The test will be administered on a computer. Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office. You will have a maximum of 2 ½ hours to complete the test.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
The test will also be held approximately 10 days a month at additional test centers located in Allentown, Erie, Johnstown, Lock Haven, and Scranton. If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your “Notice of Examination Results.” A new application is required for a retest.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
