NATURE OF WORK

 

You will provide advisory services to promote, improve and implement adult basic education/literacy and family literacy programs through schools, private or public educational entities, libraries, businesses, and other service providers.  You will evaluate state and federal grant proposals for adult basic education/literacy programs, family literacy programs and special projects; monitor and conduct evaluations for such programs; and develop, organize and conduct conferences and workshops.

 

Adult Basic and Literacy Education Advisors 2 serve as lead workers and may be responsible for statewide programs that require developing and recommending program guidelines and policies.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.  Considerable overnight travel may be required.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Minimum Requirements

Adult Basic and Literacy Education Advisor 1 - Four years of professional experience in the field of adult basic or literacy education, including one year in an administrative capacity, and a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of administrative experience in adult basic or literacy education.

 

Adult Basic and Literacy Education Advisor 2 - One year as an Adult Basic and Literacy Education Advisor 1; OR five years of professional experience in adult basic or literacy education, including two years in an administrative capacity, and a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of administrative experience in adult basic or literacy education.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these this job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS
