NATURE OF WORK
You will conduct formal training for the certification/recertification of federal, state and local law enforcement personnel in areas such as accident reconstruction, commercial vehicle collision investigation, chemical breath testing, and traffic patrol/drug interdiction; and assist in developing and modifying training materials. Your training will consist of lectures, demonstrations, audio-visual aids, and hands-on experiences.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel extensively to various training sites throughout the state. Frequent overnight travel is required. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Necessary Special Requirement
A certificate of successful completion of a police instructor development course.
Minimum Requirements
Three years of law enforcement experience and an associate’s degree.

All positions are in the Pennsylvania Department of Education and are filled on a permanent part-time basis. Positions are located throughout the Commonwealth. The Department of Education typically fills 3-5 positions annually.
Additional opportunities may occur due to normal turnover from retirements, promotions, transfers, resignations and so forth.
The amount of time you will work varies depending upon your availability and the number and location of the requests for training. You must be available to work at least 20 instructional days per year.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your “Notice of Examination Results.” A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
