NATURE OF WORK

 

You will be performing advanced professional engineering work evaluating the safety, design, construction, operation, and decommissioning of commercial nuclear facilities within the Commonwealth.  Work involves applying engineering principles to evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of the systems and equipment that are critical to protecting the public and the environment from the possible effects of abnormal operation or accident.  An important aspect of this work is serving as the Commonwealth’s technical representative at the assigned nuclear facilities and advising state government officials on plant conditions and safety matters during emergency situations.

You must be of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for this job title.

 

Condition of Employment 

Certain positions in this job will require possession of a valid driver’s license.

 

Certain positions in this job will require possession of a valid Professional Engineer license by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

 

Minimum Requirements

Three years of professional nuclear systems safety analysis involving Boiling Water Reactors or Pressurized Water Reactors, and a bachelor’s degree in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, structural or environmental engineering, or in engineering technology; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
