NATURE OF WORK

 

You will provide epidemiologic and clinical consultation regarding public health issues such as infectious disease control and prevention, environmental emergencies and public health preparedness for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for this job title.

 

Necessary Special Requirement

Possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania issued by the State Medicine Board or Osteopathic Medicine Board; or eligibility for such licensure.  You must obtain the required license prior to beginning employment.

 

Minimum Requirements

Completion of an approved U.S. residency training program; AND two years of professional medical experience, including one year in a public health setting.

 

Clarification of Requirements

Public Health is defined as the provision of health care services, treatment, prevention, and/or detection of disease for targeted groups within a community at large, with a goal of optimal health for all.

 

Public Health experience must emphasize on preventive medicine and reflect involvement in responsibilities such as health education, disease screening, planning delivery of care, facilities regulation and enhancement and/or the study and analysis of environmental contaminants and occupational hazards.
