NATURE OF WORK

 

You will conduct inspections of underground industrial minerals mines to enforce and promote compliance with mining laws.  You will measure the velocity and oxygen content of the air and test for presence of noxious and explosive gases; explain unsafe conditions to mine owners and mine officials; and order required corrective action.  You will also investigate safety related complaints and mining accidents, and prepare reports of inspections and investigations.

 

You will work from your home, and be responsible for inspections statewide.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Necessary Special Requirements

You must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

 

You must possess a Class A “General” blaster’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or possession of any valid blaster’s license or certificate that meets the approval of the Department of Environmental Protection.

 

Minimum Requirements

Five years of technical mining experience in underground industrial minerals mines; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes a minimum of one year of technical mining experience in underground industrial minerals mines.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education to a maximum of four years for the required experience.  Unrelated experience or education will not be acceptable. 

 

Industrial mineral mines does not include coal mines.  It does include, for example, clay, copper, iron ore, limestone or salt mines.  However, underground mining experience as a mine worker, mine foreman, etc. that is in coal mines is acceptable to a maximum of four years.

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS
