NATURE OF WORK

 

You will interact with municipal officials and employees on a broad range of pension administration issues including explaining the advantages and responsibilities of membership in the PMRS, the differences in pension plans offered by the PMRS, individual benefits and accounting issues, and act as a liaison between the municipal governments and the PMRS.  Work involves representing the retirement system at professional conferences and meetings for municipal government officials, and at union meetings and other municipal employee gatherings as requested to provide information and maintain coordination of services to member organizations and employees. You will work with considerable independence within the policy guidelines of the PMRS.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

Minimum Requirements

Two years of professional administrative experience in membership services, plan administration, or pension planning in a public pension system; and a bachelor's degree in public administration, economics, human resources management, or a related field; OR 1 year of professional experience in a public pension system including membership services, plan administration, or pension planning; and certification as a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist issued by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which included 2 years of professional experience in membership services, plan administration, or pension planning in a public pension system.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

 

You will have a maximum of 2 1/2 hours to complete the test which will cover the following subject areas:

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test.  You must submit a new application to be retested.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS
