NATURE OF WORK

 

You will assist school districts, charter schools, and intermediate units in the implementation of effective programs for children from birth through 8 years of age.  Early Childhood Education Advisors foster collaborative relationships with community preschool programs.  They assist in implementing the reading initiatives and in the Pennsylvania Department of Education work with academic standards, classroom assessment, professional development, and teacher preparation.  They provide leadership to statewide advisory committees and assist in developing goals and objectives for public education of young children. 

 

Employees at the 2 level are responsible for the statewide direction and leadership of Early Childhood Education curriculum programs.  They develop goals and objectives for education in the Commonwealth consistent with regulations and departmental priorities.

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Minimum Requirements

Early Childhood Education Advisor 1 - Four years of professional early childhood education experience, including one year of experience in the development and implementation of early childhood education curricula or programs, and 18 college credits in early childhood or elementary education; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of experience in the development and implementation of early childhood education curricula or programs, and 18 college credits in early childhood or elementary education.

 

Early Childhood Education Advisor 2 - One year as an Early Childhood Education Advisor 1; OR five years of professional early childhood education experience, including two years of experience in the development and implementation of early childhood education curricula or programs, and 18 credits in early childhood or elementary education; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years or experience in the development and implementation of early childhood education curricula or programs, and 18 college credits in early childhood or elementary education.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related graduate education for the required experience.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.

 

The test and scoring procedure are different from previous tests for these job titles.  If you have taken the test before, you may get a different score on this test.
