NATURE OF WORK

 

You will review plans for earthmoving/water obstruction projects to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing such areas as erosion and sedimentation control and flood protection; prepare designs, plans and specifications for various projects such as bridges, dams, roads, parking lots, fish hatcheries, mine reclamation, subsidence control and recreational facilities; monitor various projects prior to and during construction to ensure conformance with approved design plans and specifications; and inspect completed projects such as dams and bridges to ensure structural integrity.

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Condition of Employment

Certain positions will require possession of a valid driver’s license.

 

Minimum Requirements

Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program; OR one year of professional civil engineering experience, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; OR four years of civil engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; OR five years of civil engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS
