NATURE OF WORK

 

These positions are in a number of state agencies where you will review plans for earthmoving/water obstruction projects to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing such areas as erosion and sedimentation control and flood protection; prepare designs, plans and specifications for various projects such as bridges, dams, roads, parking lots, fish hatcheries, mine reclamation, subsidence control and recreational facilities; monitor various projects prior to and during construction to ensure conformance with approved design plans and specifications; and inspect completed projects such as dams and bridges to ensure structural integrity.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Condition of Employment

Certain positions will require possession of a valid driver’s license.

 

Minimum Requirements

Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program; OR one year of professional civil engineering experience, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; OR four years of civil engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; OR five years of civil engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
