NATURE OF WORK
Employees in these positions provide services to senior citizens for a county Area Agency on Aging (AAA).
Meal Transporter operates a car, van or similar vehicle to deliver meals to clients; cleans, lubricates and performs minor repairs of vehicles as required; records daily vehicle mileage; and maintains records for servicing and inspection of vehicles.
Van Driver operates a van to transport clients to and from various activities and/or appointments; performs normal operator maintenance and safety checks of the vehicle; and completes reports as necessary, such as number of clients served per day and geographical locations served.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You may be required to provide a car to use in your work when a county vehicle is not available. When this condition applies, an offer of employment will be made only if you can meet this requirement. Travel expenses will be paid.

Some of the positions in these job titles come under the provisions of the Older Adults Protective Services Act. If you are a final candidate for one of these positions, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If you are a final candidate and not currently a Pennsylvania resident or if you are currently a Pennsylvania resident and a final candidate but have not been a resident for 2 years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such positions. You will receive information about this requirement and how to obtain the required reports at the time you are being considered for employment.
Conditions of Employment
No suspension of driver’s license within the last 3 years.
For some positions, candidates who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo a medical examination.
For some positions, employees must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, supplemented by appropriate endorsements.
Necessary Special Requirements
You must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
Minimum Requirements
Meal Transporter - Six months of experience which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Van Driver - One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

There are 16 filled Meal Transporter (MT) positions and 114 filled Van Driver (VD) positions throughout the Commonwealth.
Employment preference will be given to residents of the county where jobs are located.
Promotion preference will be given to employees who work in the county where job openings occur.
Employment preference will be granted to individuals aged 60 and over.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
County employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
