NOTE: There is a continuing need for bilingual (English and Spanish) clerks in the Philadelphia area, as well as in Berks, Chester, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Northumberland and York counties. Individuals hired for these positions provide information and assistance to Spanish speaking clients. If you have the required bilingual skills you are encouraged to apply.

NATURE OF WORK
You will file and retrieve materials, gather and provide information, process forms and documents, and perform arithmetic computations and other general clerical duties. Duties at the Clerk 2 level increase in scope and complexity and are performed with greater independence than at the Clerk 1 level. Employees at the Clerk 2 level may also function as lead workers.

Positions are located in Pennsylvania City and County Housing Authorities, Area Agency on Aging Offices, County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Offices, County Children and Youth Offices, and County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Centers.
There are no current Housing Authority positions in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.
Lists created by these tests will be used to fill future vacancies as they occur due to retirements, promotions, transfers, resignations and so forth.
Employment preference for local government positions may be given to residents of the city or county in which the jobs are located.
Promotion preference may be given to employees who work in the city or county where job openings occur.
Employment preference will be granted to individuals aged 60 and over for jobs with the Area Agency on Aging Offices.

TESTING
The test will be administered on a computer. Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.
You will have a maximum of 2 1/2 hours to complete the test which will cover the following subject areas:

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
The test also will be held approximately 10 days a month at additional test centers located in Allentown, Erie, Johnstown, Lock Haven, and Scranton. If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test. You must submit a new application to be retested.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
