NATURE OF WORK
This is advanced professional nursing work in the treatment of residents in Pennsylvania’s veterans’ homes, in collaboration with and under the direction of a licensed physician. You will be responsible for providing health care services including medical assessment and prescription of therapeutic measures; promotion and maintenance of health; prevention of illness and disability; care during illness; and the implementation of appropriate reporting and/or referral, standardized procedure or changes in treatment regimen to address observed abnormal characteristics.
You will develop individual health profiles; assess and perform findings of histories and physical examinations of patients; analyze and evaluate clinical laboratory data and diagnostic tests; set forth preliminary medical diagnoses; order diagnostic studies and assess the findings; develop and evaluate primary medical treatment plans and initiate adjustments in conjunction with the supervising physician; and implement therapeutic procedures outlined in comprehensive treatment plans. You will also evaluate patients’ capabilities to perform self-care; determine referral to specialized health care providers and community resources; and counsel patients and families regarding the illness and/or disability, the medication regimen and treatment procedures.
Some travel is required for training and conferences at other facilities. Travel expenses will be paid.

You must be of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job. Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for this job title.
All of the positions in this job title come under the provisions of the Older Adults Protective Services Act. If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Service Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If you are not currently a Pennsylvania resident, or if you are currently a Pennsylvania resident and have not been a resident for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After you receive a conditional offer of employment, you must undergo a medical examination.
Necessary Special Requirement
Current certification as a Registered Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing in an Adult Care specialty area, or Emergency Care, Family Care, Gerontology, or Primary Care.

TEST RESULTS
