GOVERNOR RENDELL COMMENTS ON DEATH OF LARRY FRANKEL, LONGTIME CIVIL LIBERTIES ADVOCATE
HARRISBURG – Governor Edward G. Rendell today expressed regret upon learning of the death of Larry Frankel, former legislative director for the American Civil Liberty Union of Pennsylvania:
“Larry Frankel was clearly one of the most effective advocates for civil liberties and justice in Pennsylvania. Larry understood that in the fight to preserve and expand our civil liberties, being civil was as important as being right.
“Larry was so respected and trusted by legislators and advocates on both sides of the aisle that he alone was able build powerful coalitions to protect our freedoms. I could count on Larry for his strategic insight and clever approach to advocacy making him a pleasure to work with and a gentleman that I always wanted on my side. He served the people of Pennsylvania as much as any elected official in the commonwealth.”
