Governor Rendell Orders Flags Lowered in Honor of Sen. James Rhoades

HARRISBURG Governor Edward G. Rendell today ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags at commonwealth facilities throughout the state to be flown at half-staff immediately to honor the memory of Sen. James J. Rhoades, who died Oct. 18 after being injured in a car crash the previous evening.

For 28 years, Rhoades represented the 29th state Senate district, which includes all of Schuylkill and parts of Lehigh, Carbon, Northampton, Berks and Monroe counties. Flags will stay at half-staff until the senator's interment on Saturday, October 25.
