  • PA will receive $2.25 million in federal Recovery Act funds to help boost broadband and Internet coverage across the state. The funds will aid the state’s efforts to identify areas and organizations that lack broadband service, develop strategies to extend coverage, and promote collaboration.

  • Pennsylvania State Police marked National Amber Alert Awareness Day January 13 by reminding Pennsylvanians that they can receive electronic notifications on abducted child cases via the state’s alert system, known as AlertPA

  • A new e-mail encryption protocol affects e-mail sent by all state agencies that use the commonwealth’s central e-mail system. To learn more, you can get instructions for receiving secure e-mail or contact the person from whom you typically receive commonwealth e-mail.

  • Due to reductions in the fiscal year 2009-10 budget, the commonwealth unfortunately had to permanently furlough approximately 320 additional employees. Affected employees were notified by their agencies beginning on November 16, 2009.
