Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program

The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare administers the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) through the County Assistance Offices. This program helps low-income families pay a portion of their winter heating bills. The program operates during the winter heating season, generally between November and March. LIHEAP is not a welfare program or a loan. No lien is placed on the home, and you do not need to pay the money back.

You or your family members may be eligible if you meet the income guidelines established for the program.
