The time and talents of Pennsylvania’s 1.9 million adults over age 65 are among our commonwealth’s greatest untapped resources. It does not matter if you are 55 or 85—volunteer opportunities exist for people of all ages and levels of physical ability. The benefits of volunteering go beyond the good feeling that comes from helping others; it’s also a chance to make new friends. There are a number of volunteer opportunities to serve other adults in your community. Your local Area Agency on Aging (AAA) can provide short- and long-term projects involving people of all ages who can assist in the delivery of services to older people. Where possible, these volunteer efforts are coordinated with other volunteer initiatives.
Some volunteer programs have age requirements; please check with your local Area on Aging on Aging for eligibility.
