Fingerprint Training

In April 2006, PCCD awarded a $150,000 grant to the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police (PCPA) to conduct statewide training for local police departments that have the LiveScan hand scanner TP3800XCH models, which capture fingerprints, as well as palm prints. This captured biometric data is sent to the Automated Fingerprints Identification System (AFIS) at the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) repository.

The detailed training conducted by the PCPA is in accordance with the findings based on the PCCD/JNET fingerprint report. This specialized training will result in captured biometric data being of the highest quality and meeting the federal American National Standard Institute (ANSI) and the National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST) Criminal Record History Improvement.

The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, through a grant with the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, supports LiveScan End-User Training.
