Bureau of State Employment

The Bureau of State Employment (BSE) fills non-civil service jobs for state agencies under the Governor's jurisdiction.  The commonwealth offers employment opportunities in over 2,000 job classifications, all of which fit into two broad categories: non-civil service or civil service. Nearly one third of commonwealth jobs are non-civil service positions filled by BSE.

Furlough Placement

Many collective bargaining agreements in PA contain placement provisions to help employees continue their commonwealth careers and maintain benefits. BSE is responsible for seeking re-employment opportunities for furloughed commonwealth employees whose bargaining agreements contain these provisions.
