Working to Reduce our Prison Population
- • Facing high corrections costs, Governor Corbett is making lasting reforms to our justice system that will save taxpayers money, hold offenders accountable and make our communities safer.
- • Together with a bipartisan working group, Governor Corbett developed a Justice Reinvestment plan to reduce corrections costs, while improving public safety.
- • The Governor’s plan works to eliminate the costly inefficiencies in the system and reduce the future criminality of the offender – turning tax burdens into taxpayers.
Tough Laws to Keep Pennsylvanians Safe
- • Dedicated to fighting the war on drugs, the Governor helped criminalize the possession, use and sale of synthetic designer drugs including the dangerous substance known as “bath salts.’’
- • “Lacey’s Law,” which the Governor signed into law, protects teen drivers by instituting stricter rules for drivers under the age of 18.
- • The Governor advocated for and signed into law Pennsylvania’s first texting while driving ban.
- • Keeping with his commitment to protect Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable from child predators, the Governor fought for the “Adam Walsh Bill,’’ which imposing tougher reporting standards for convicted sex offenders.
