Supersedeas Fund Reimbursement Application Transition Window
Effective Sept. 9, 2013, All SFR Applications Must Be Filed Electronically
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry is embarking on a computer modernization project for workers' compensation, known as the Workers' Compensation Automation and Integration System, or WCAIS. Upon implementation on Sept. 9, 2013, WCAIS will enable electronic communication, provide around-the-clock access to information and permit online document management and online filing, including online filing of Supersedeas Fund Reimbursement (SFR) applications.
Effective Sept. 9, all SFR applications must be filed electronically. In preparation for WCAIS, the Bureau of Workers' Compensation has established a three-week transition window from Aug. 17, to Sept. 8, 2013, for migrating data and processes to the new system, including migration from paper SFR applications to electronic filing. Because paper applications cannot be processed in the new computer system, we ask that you hold SFR applications during this transition period, and file them electronically in WCAIS after Sept. 9. Paper applications received during this period will be returned unprocessed with a request to resubmit the application electronically on or after Sept. 9.
To file an SFR application on and after September 9, you must be registered in WCAIS. If you have not already registered in WCAIS, you are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding the registration process, please contact our Helpline at 717-772-4447 or 800-482-2383 (for long-distance calls outside of PA). Further information will be provided to you regarding details on how to submit and track an online SFR application in WCAIS in a separate notification.
Please share this memo with your office staff involved with the SFR application process, and use it as a reminder of the upcoming transition window.
Your continued understanding and cooperation during this transition is appreciated.
