The Pennsylvania Commission for Women is pleased to host the 2014 Women’s Mentorship Symposium: Paying It Forward. The half-day event will focus on the critical importance of mentorship on women’s personal and professional success.

Lori Greiner, the “warm blooded shark”™ on the hit entrepreneurial business show “Shark Tank” on ABC, will give keynote remarks during the luncheon program. Greiner is now regarded as one of the most prolific inventors of retail products, having created over 400 products, and holds 120 U.S. and international patents. Greiner entered the literary world with her first book Invent It, Sell It, Bank It! which is a National Best Seller and is a hands on, step-by-step guide on how to turn an idea into a million dollar reality. The symposium will offer substantive morning workshops, including Speed Mentoring and a Business Plan Competition.
The Speed Mentoring program will provide a structured, fast-paced setting for women to interact with one another to discuss topics such as work-life balance, career transition, and salary negotiation. Senior level women in a variety of professional fields will serve as mentors for the program.
The NAWBO PA Business Plan Competition will offer a once in a lifetime opportunity for women business owners in Pennsylvania to showcase their business venture while competing for a $10,000 cash prize. The competition celebrates female entrepreneurship and is open to women business owners in Pennsylvania who started their business on or after January 1, 2012. The judging panel includes: Lori Greiner – entrepreneur and star shark on “Shark Tank”; Julia Hearthway – Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry; and Reneé Amoore, founder and president of The Amoore Group, Inc.
