Ronald G. Ruman

Ronald G. Ruman was appointed Press Secretary and Director of Communications for the Department of State April 25, 2011.
The Office of Communications and Press is responsible for assisting the Secretary of the Commonwealth in disseminating information to the news media and the public regarding the Department's regulatory and enforcement capacities.
Mr. Ruman brings extensive media, public relations, and government press experience to this position. He worked as a radio and television news reporter for more than a decade in Philipsburg, State College, Altoona, and Harrisburg. He also has more than 17 years service in the Pennsylvania Senate, Lt. Governor’s Office, and Department of Environmental Protection communications/press offices. And, his resume includes work as senior associate in a Harrisburg public relations firm, providing media and coalition building support for clients.
Mr. Ruman holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communications from Penn State University.
Active in the community, Mr. Ruman serves as chairman of the West Manchester Township Planning Commission, and as a lector at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Mr. Ruman lives in West Manchester Township, York County, with his wife, Jan, a 4th grade teacher in the Southern York County School District, and their daughter, Allison.
