Chief Information Officer

F. William Finnerty, Jr. was appointed as Chief Information Officer to the Department of State on May 28, 2013.

As Chief Information Officer, Bill oversees the Bureau of Management Information Systems which is responsible for all aspects of the Department's current and future information technology (IT) initiatives, and develops and implements the Administration's strategic direction to improve customer service delivery programs.

Before coming to the Department, Bill worked for the County of Cumberland for 12 years, as Director of Information and Technology, where he developed budget, policy and strategic direction for Cumberland County’s information and technology departments, County Archives and Bureau of Elections. In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor at Central Pennsylvania College, where he teaches undergraduate level courses in technology.

Bill holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from Shippensburg University and a Bachelor of Science in Education, Elementary Education from Mansfield University.

Bill lives in Watts Township, Perry County with his wife Amy and their two children.
