Injury Statistics
County Injury Profiles:
Every year profiles of injury events are produced by county using the Hospital Discharge Data from the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4). The profile provides a convenient one-page summary of the injury burden within a particular county, including information on costs of hospitalization.
Combined Injury Reports:
Beginning with the 2005 data, deaths and hospitalizations due to injury have been combined into one document. This report describes injuries in Pennsylvania by both mechanism (motor vehicle, poisoning, firearm, etc.) and intent (unintentional, self-inflicted/suicide or assault/homicide). Each section includes demographic and trend information as well as a map of rates across Pennsylvania. Bookmarks are included in the document for navigation.
Similar data is available for 2004 and all years prior via separate reports for deaths and hospitalizations. Use the below menus to access this additional historical data.
