Opportunities for Students

The Department of Health continually seeks talented students for internship positions throughout the year. Internships are an excellent opportunity for students to:

  • Work in job responsibilities directly related to your field of study
  • Gain experience that can be used upon graduation when seeking full-time employment
  • Provide insight into a career with growth potential with state government

  • Current, full time student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
  • Major course of study in a health related field, science, or technical field (engineering or computer science)
  • Resident of Pennsylvania or attending a Pennsylvania college or university
  • Good academic standing

Location: Most internships are in the Harrisburg area, with the exception of the state laboratory which is located in Lionville (Chester County)

Time Frame: Start and end dates are flexible, but follow the traditional fall, spring, summer semesters

Salary: Interns may be paid as long as the program office has funding available. The pay rate for paid Public Health Interns is $11.43 per hour. Non-paid versus paid internship opportunities vary by semester.
