Reopen a Claim Instructions
If you established an initial claim for UC benefits within the past year, stopped filing for those benefits and wish to resume filing, you can reopen your claim using the methods listed below.
If you stopped filing claims because you are no longer unemployed, you should reopen your claim during the first week that you are again unemployed. You may risk losing some benefit eligibility if you file after the first week you are unemployed. If you stopped filing claims because you were ill, hospitalized, or otherwise unable to work, you should reopen your claim as soon as you are able and available for work again.
Online: You may reopen an existing UC claim using the new claim application on our secure website 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Note: The reopen process looks exactly the same as the initial claim process.
By phone: You can also reopen your existing claim by calling the statewide UC services toll-free number at 888-313-7284 (TTY services for the deaf and hard of hearing: 888-334-4046), 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Please note - if your SSN ends in an odd number - 1,3,5,7,9 - call the service center for assistance on Monday. If your SSN ends in an even number - 0,2,4,6,8 - call on Tuesday. The UC service centers will continue to accept calls from claimants with any SSN on Thursdays and Fridays.
By Mail or Fax:
You may download a paper application
and mail or fax it to a UC Service Center. Please follow the instructions provided and complete the entire application to assist in preventing delays in the processing of your application.
